Welcome to South East Camper, We have upgraded our entire site to a blog format. We hope you like it. By setting it up as a blog it will be much easier to update. All the information seen on the old webpages will stay intact and will also be included in our New SouthEast Camper Blog. This has been a long time coming and since my last update. I have plenty of new recipes, pictures and more to add. I've moved into my new house and have settled in. It is time to build a fire and start cooking.

"Old Black Magic"

If there's anything blacker than a Dutch oven,
It seems to escape my seeking mind,
But a better meal than comes from them,
Would be most difficult to find.

For nearly any possible occasion,
Any time, any place or which-ever meal,
Get out the black Dutch ovens
And cook up a scrumptious deal.

If you're doing breakfast in a canyon,
Or your backyard or by a cool lake,
Try "All-In-One"; potatoes, ham, onion and eggs,
And then let the Dutch oven bake.

At a good old-fashioned family reunion,
Or when the neighborhood comes to dine,
Fill up several black Dutch Ovens
And be prepared for a wonderful time.

Try one full of barbecued pork fingers,
And every now and then
Do one full of the elegant,
plump, juicy, stuffed Cornish hen.

Oh! There's many things to choose from!
Dutch oven chicken and rolls at least,
Then potatoes with inions and fruit cobbler,
And there's a real tasty feast.

Cook up a Dutch oven full of vegetables,
With melted cheese seeping through;
Or do a batch of cornbread, cinnamon rolls,
A huckleberry pie or a beef stew.

Through winter storms when power fails
Don't bemoan your miserable fate,
With your fireplace and "Old Black Magic"
You can cook for family or date.

When Dutch oven cooking over coals so hot and red,
Let us give you a kindly clue,
Second helpings are in style
Or, a third or a fourth if you'd like too.

Now ere this appetizing poem
Comes to its destined end,
Keep your "Dutch Ovens" black and clean
And they will be your life-time friend.
